Otorhinolaryngological Department
This Department provides clinic ENT-assistance in the Medical Centre since January 2007 while 2 beds had been established on the basis of surgical department. In-patients care had been provided by ENT-doctor in Polyclinic.
In order to improve ENT-service in Medical Centre and in Zhezkazgan Region and within the frame of close cooperation with Freiburg University Clinic, Mr. Yerkebulan Abdrakhmanov, ENT-doctor of Medical Centre, had been sent to 2-years ENT-specialisation courses to Freiburg University Clinic.
And in February 2011 while he came back and required equipment had been purchased, a new ENT-department in the Medical Centre was established as a separate subdivision.
Currently ENT-Department is fully equipped with most modern medical equipment in terms of diagnostics and medical treatment of the ENT-organs’ diseases: medical diagnostic unit (Otopront, Germany), diagnostic microscope OPMI Pico (Carl Zeiss, Germany), rigid endoscope and flexible rhinolaryngofibroscope (Karl Storz, Germany), set of diagnostic tools (Karl Storz, Germany), otoscope (Heine, Germany), tympanometer Tymp-Screen and clinic audiometer ORBITER 922 V.2 (Madsen Electronics, Denmark), tympanic membrane pneumatic massage unit COMPRESSOR (Russia), endoscopic combined video stand (Karl Storz, Germany) and different sets for ENT-surgery (Karl Storz, Germany). DIAGNOSTICS
In addition to general ENT-examination the ENT-Centre implements actively methods of endoscopic and microscopic examination with parallel visualisation, data saving and back-up procedures.
Hearing diagnostics is not limited by tuning-fork surveys and studies of whispering and informal speech. Audiometric study is one of the most important components in examination of the patients having ear diseases. For this purpose Medical Centre has audiometry room, where special audiometry cabin is installed. This allows conducting more precise diagnostics of hearing pathologies. The objective methods of acoustic analyser include tympanometry which can assess conditions of middle ear. This method is very informative, especially during children’s examinations.
And also other possibilities of the Medical Centre has been used in order to improve diagnostic methods: radiography, USI, endoscopy of adjacent organs, laboratory study methods, bacteriology, PCR, histology, CT and many others. Our patients could be sent to have a consultancy by other specialists in terms of interdisciplinary diagnostics.
The ENT-doctors daily have consultancy reception of the patients in the Polyclinic, preventive medical examinations, out-patient care to conduct small operations and manipulations. ENT-doctors take active part in doctors’ council, medical-and-consultancy committee meetings, clinic discussions and complex examination of employees who has got an injury on production sites.
MEDICAL TREATMENT
1. Conservative methods: acute inflammatory and suppurative diseases of ENT-organs, infusive therapy of different hearing impairment, treatment of acute inflammatory diseases using advanced medicament therapy schemes, physical therapy methods, massage etc.
2. Surgical treatment:
This is an activity that helps to implement in ENT-department small-invasion endoscopy and microsurgery methods. All operations have been made using general narcosis.
Emergency operations include: haemostasis, foreign body removal, abscess and haematoma lancing and draining, nasal bone repositioning, middle ear paracentesis and draining in case of acute otitis, abscess-tonsillectomy with general narcosis in case of paratonsillar abscess.
Scheduled operative interventions: nasal bone repositioning, tonsillectomy, adenotomy, tonsillotomy using ultrasonic knife, paracentesis and drainage, and if required, middle ear shunting in case of cerumen and muco-impactions, septoplasty, various types of turbinoplasty, sinus cavity endoscopic operations, micro-laryngoscopy with larynx microsurgery, panendoscopy without biopsy, surgical methods against snoring.
